Learn about car seat safety

Car-related injuries are the leading cause of death among young children. That’s why UCare wants to make sure your child is safe in the car. Through our SEATS Program, we work with agencies statewide to give free car seats and safety education to eligible UCare members who are either pregnant, or children under age 8.*

Knowing how to install and use a car seat is very important, and it's a requirement for a UCare member to get a free car seat. Depending on where you live, you can have in-home visits or go to classes to learn how to install and use car seats the correct way.

*You must set up an appointment with a UCare SEATS partner; typical wait time is two to three weeks. The seat style for each child will be decided by the agency that gives you the seat. Limits apply.

Request a car seat

To schedule an appointment with a SEATS partner, call UCare Customer Service at the number on the back of your member ID card to get the name and phone number of a partnering agency in your county.

Eligible members will receive one of the following car seat types, based on the member’s age, weight, and height:

  • Convertible car seat – for both rear-facing and forward-facing
  • Combination car seat – for forward-facing with and without a 5-point harness
  • Backless booster seat
